This abstract painting was inspired by some photos my daughter took of a paddle-steamer on the Murray River.
Although these majestic ships glide seemingly effortlessly along the quiet inland river, beneath the surface there is a lot going on.
The paddle wheels churn up the water, creating a full spectrum of colour, while the engine furnace is the heart of the vessel, glowing orange and keeping the movement happening.
Wheels on Water depicts the water going around in never-ending turbulent circles while the reflection of the fire may infiltrate the waves. I had fun painting this.
