I was commissioned to paint Precipice to suit a display home using taupe, black and white as the main colours to match the décor.
An abstract impressionistic painting, it has a lot of texture and shapes, mainly due to my use of a palette knife for the rendering. It looks stunning on a white wall.
The fascinating thing about this painting is that everyone will see something different in it, either in part or as a whole. I called it Precipice because it reminds me of a rugged ocean cliffside. And when I look at it, I recall a trip we did in southern Tasmania when we saw the replica of The Endeavour coming around the cliffs and rock formations.
I think abstracts come from the subconscious and it is only after a painting is completed can you look at it retrospectively and the images come to you. See if you can see The Endeavour!
