Uluru was the inspiration for this artwork, Red Rocks at Uluru. I visited Uluru in 2013 while on a trip on The Ghan from Darwin to Adelaide.
The power of Uluru is evident from the time you see it in the distance, this great orange monolith, protruding from the flat land which surrounds it.
Once there, you seem to immerse yourself in its magic as you explore the rock formations, waterholes and aboriginal art adorning the cave walls. It is a place of deep spiritual meaning, a land of deep cultural landscape.
The never-ending variety of shapes, the ever-changing colours, is an artist’s dream. This painting is the first of several which will be painted as part of a series.
